Installers play a very important role in the process of decarbonizing the energy consumption of buildings. Buildings provide many benefits to society; however, they have a significant overall impact on the environment due to their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. In fact, the building industry is responsible for almost 40% of global GHG emissions and it is estimated that the global building stock could double by 2060. Operational emissions generally come from energy consumption associated with the operation of the building. Embodied emissions comprise GHG emissions associated with the construction of the building, including the extraction, manufacture, transport and installation of building materials; as well as emissions generated by maintenance, repair, replacement, refurbishment and end-of-life activities.
